How traders read it
A fresh 52-week high means everyone who bought in the past year is now in profit, so there is less selling from trapped buyers. Breakouts can still fail; many traders want volume above normal on the breakout day and place a stop back below the old high. Compare with the list of stocks near their 52-week high.
